The Kiwanis Club of Richmond manages the Richmond Kiwanis Foundation, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that provides annual funding for the Club’s service projects and philanthropic contributions throughout the Richmond community. Established in the 1950s with seed funding from the sale of Camp Kiwanis—a summer camp for underprivileged children—the Foundation has grown into a vital source of support for the Club’s mission.
Today, the Foundation allocates a portion of its investment income to make meaningful grants to our Community Partners, including long-standing collaborators and new organizations identified through responsible stewardship. It also funds several of the Club’s signature initiatives, such as the Adopt-a-School partnership with Richmond Public Schools, the Carver Literacy Project at George W. Carver Elementary School, and the Children’s Hospital Foundation’s annual holiday party.
Through the Foundation, the Kiwanis Club of Richmond contributes annually to programs that benefit children across the region. This includes supporting Little Free Libraries through the Book Bridge Initiative and awarding Key Club Scholarships to graduating seniors each spring. All of the Club’s development efforts—most notably the Kiwanis Club of Richmond 25th Annual Reaves Louthan Memorial Invitational Kiwanis Cup Golf Tournament and other strategic fundraisers—are processed through the Foundation.
The Foundation is governed by a Board of Directors shared with the Kiwanis Club of Richmond. It maintains its own Treasurer, and each year the Club President appoints a Foundation Partnership Committee to review grant applications from community partners.
