Rachel Slotter is the Emergency Management Coordinator in charge of Planning at the University of Virginia's Office of Emergency Management. Rachel has a Ph.D. in Disaster Science and Management from the University of Delaware. Her dissertation research focused on interorganizational coordination of faith-based organizations which responded to Hurricane Florence in New Bern, NC. Rachel's prior professional experiences include working as a Research Assistant at the University of Delaware's Disaster Research Center, a Research Fellow at the University of Maryland Baltimore County's Disaster Research Lab, and as an Evening House Manager at the Ronald McDonald House of Charlottesville. Rachel has been a part of the Kiwanis family since 2007 when she first joined her high school's Key Club ultimately serving as the 2010-11 Capital District Key Club Governor. Since then Rachel has been an active member of both Circle K and Kiwanis serving on the Capital District Key Club Board Adult Committee and on the Key Club International Vision Sub-Committee. Currently, Rachel is a member of the Next Generation Kiwanis e-Club and serves as the Capital District Youth Protection Manager.
