The Virginia Museum of History & Culture is once again hosting Virginia History Day in person for elementary, middle, and high school students this spring, and they would love to have Kiwanis members help!
What is Virginia History Day? At its core, it is a historical research project. Students select a topic in history they are interested in and relate it to a yearly theme and enter their projects into History Day competitions at the district, state, and national levels.
This year the contest is spread out over two days. Elementary and middle school students will compete on Saturday, April 23 and high school students on Sunday, April 24. Each day, the contest will run from 8 am-1 pm. Ideally, volunteers will be available for the entire time, but they can also take folks in am/pm shifts. General volunteer duties include helping with registration, monitoring judging rooms/hallways, and other basic admin tasks.
Those interested can sign up as a volunteer directly with the VMHC using the link below. VMHC staff will be in touch at the beginning of April with more details.
