Three times a year—at Thanksgiving, Christmas, and Easter— the Spiritual Aims Committee asks spiritual leaders from our area to address the Club on a subject of the season. At this year's Thanksgiving address, and we are honored to have with us Dr. Jim Somerville of Richmond’s First Baptist Church. Jim is a seasoned pastor and a gifted preacher, going all the way back to his student days when he was honored with a top preaching award at Southern Baptist Theological School in Louisville, Kentucky.

His sermons and articles have been widely published, and he has been featured on international radio broadcasts. Jim is the 16th senior pastor of First Baptist, a large church with a long history in our city and a beautiful location on Monument Avenue. Prior to coming to Richmond, Jim served as pastor of the First Baptist Church in Washington D.C. for seven years.
