Following his 1973 graduation from UVA, Gene Johnson joined the Federal Reserve Bank of Richmond as a junior assistant examiner. He rose through the ranks in the banking supervision and regulation area and retired as vice president in 2012. During his career he hired and supervised bank examiners, taught at Federal Reserve System banking courses and state banking association programs, and later he oversaw supervision and regulation programs for Fifth District banking organizations. Gene's support for the community includes service with Junior Achievement, the Police Athletic League, the board of the Alzheimer's Association of Greater Richmond, and currently he's a member of the Chesterfield County Citizens Advisory Budget Committee.
Over the years, Gene has devoted time to studying available information about the John F. Kennedy assassination, a sad event in our country's history.
