Lt. General Richard M. Clark will be in his hometown of Richmond on Monday, September 13, 2021. After at an assembly at his elementary school, John B. Cary, Gen. Clark will be the featured speaker at our Monday lunch meeting.
After graduating from Huguenot High School, Clark was offered a football scholarship to William & Mary. Instead of following that path, he enrolled in the U.S. Air Force Academy, earning an undergraduate degree in Management. His career with the Air Force led to many assignments, from the 34th Bomber Squadron at Ellsworth Air Force Base in South Dakota to service as a White House Fellow, to Iraq, to Egypt, to Germany, and on assignment as Deputy Chief of Staff for strategic deterrence and nuclear integration. He has logged more than 4200 flight hours, 400 of which are combat hours. He has received numerous military awards and decorations including the Distinguished Flying Cross and the Bronze Star with oak leaf cluster.
A distinguished scholar, an accomplished athlete, a highly decorated member of the U.S. Air Force, an inspirational leader and mentor, he is also one of Richmond Public Schools’ most illustrious graduates.
