Org Chart Restructuring: Supporting Our Mission
Every few years, the Club executive committee makes adjustments to the structure of our organizational chart to better achieve the goals of our strategic plan. The latest restructuring, which will take effect at the start of the 2021/22 Kiwanis year, reflects recent changes in the size and priorities of the Club and aligns more closely with our core functions: membership, fellowship, club meetings, service, philanthropy, service-leadership programs, administration, and connection to the greater Kiwanis organization and mission.
What does this mean?
Firstly, it means we still need YOU! Many hands make light work, and we still need members to participate and lead community service projects, invite great speakers, promote the Club, help us fundraise for our partner non-profits and projects, and of course, invite new members to be a part of the best civic association in the city!
It also means structurally, we have simplified the org chart to have fewer committees and committee chairs. Similar functions (such as school projects, or meeting support) have been grouped together into single committees. New committees have been added to reflect our strenthening ties to the greater Kiwanis structure.
If it seems “your” committee is no longer on the chart, be assured it is still a function of the Club, now part of a larger committee with similar tasks.
This simplified organizational structure will be less overwhelming and more welcoming for new members coming into the Club. It will also be more efficient for our Board of Directors to manage communications with fewer committee chairs.
This summer all members are being asked to commit to at least one committee for the coming Kiwanis year. There is something for everyone, whether your interest is in helping our schools, greeting at a Kiwanis meeting, welcoming new members, providing strategic direction to our fundraising efforts, or helping to coordinate a new service project.
Our Kiwanis Year 2020-2021 has been transformational for your Club, and the new org chart reflects that transformation as we pivot toward recovery, growth, and a visible impact in the Richmond community.
