Kiwanis Cup Raises Money "Fore" Kids' Mental Health
The Kiwanis Club of Richmond’s first post-pandemic golf tournament on October 17 was a huge success, grossing more than $36,000 in donations and sponsorships, while providing a fun day of golf for Kiwanians and community supporters. Net proceeds will benefit ChildSavers’ mental health programs. Though the day was cut short by storms, Team Comfort Systems walked away the 21st winner of the Kiwanis Cup at the Dominion Club in Glen Allen.
“The Kiwanis Club of Richmond of Richmond and ChildSavers have a common goal: improving he lives of children. ChildSavers is pleased with our special partnership with Kiwanis,” says Kiwanian and ChildSavers CEO Robert Bolling. “The resources from the golf tournament will support our critical programs to improve the quality of child care and to provide mental health services to kids who might not otherwise have access.”
A special thanks goes to golf committee chair Chip Louthan for stepping into that role on “the back nine,” so to speak. Last year at this time there was still some question about whether the Club could host a fundraising tournament in 2022, but thanks to the support of the Club’s board and members, we can all be proud that the tradition inaugurated by Chip’s late brother Reaves has continued on.
