A Happy Band of Kiwanis Elves
Eight Kiwanians (donning our snazzy Kiwanis aprons) volunteered at the Salvation Army Angel Tree Distribution Center December 15, braving some pretty wet and unpleasant weather. We provided concierge services to families who came to pick up their Christmas gifts and coats. Special recognition goes to John Mahone, Clay Macauley and Jon Chase for helping folks load their presents (bikes included) into their cars in the rain.
“We served approximately 700 families, which by my estimate is 2000 children in the Richmond area that otherwise would have had a very lean Christmas,” said community service committee chair Dick Rheutan, who organized the project. “It would be great to be able to see their faces on Christmas morning.”
