John Morris is hosting Middlesex County Superintendent of Schools Dr. Peter Gretz as our featured speaker June 21. While not entirely local to Richmond, Dr. Gretz will be sharing how his county has safely and effectively navigated the choice to provide in-person learning opportunities to their Virginia county’s residents even as neighboring areas remained all-virtual during the current school year.
Dr. Gretz is in his fifth year as Chief Executive Officer for the Middlesex County Public Schools and is responsible for the implementation of School Board policy and daily operations of the school division. As the Superintendent of Schools, Dr. Gretz provides support to all instructional areas and ensures that all students have an opportunity for success.
Prior to coming to Middlesex in 2016, Dr. Gretz was the Assistant Superintendent of business operations for Goochland County schools. Prior to that, he served as director of instruction in Buckingham County. He also has been a language arts teacher, director of student services, and middle school principal. He is an adjunct professor at Virginia Commonwealth University and James Madison University. Dr. Gretz is an honorary member of the Kiwanis Club of Middlesex. Dr. Gretz, his wife, Sara, and four children reside in Middlesex County, Va.
