Daniel M. Gade currently serves as the Commissioner of the Department of Veterans Services for Virginia. He is a West Point graduate who served in the US Army for 25 years, including overseas deployments to Korea and Iraq. He was wounded in combat twice, and lost his entire right leg. He later went on to earn an MPA and PhD in public administration and policy, and taught at West Point for 6 years. In 2020, he ran for US Senate in Virginia. He and his wife reside in Mount Vernon with their three children.
