On March 7 we welcome Chuck Metzgar, co-founder of Greenswell Growers. The organization pairs safe and sustainable growing and packaging methods with a commitment to the community and the planet. Proudly planted in Goochland County, their large scale indoor growing facility provides ready to eat, locally grown, and fresh greens 365 days a year.
Before co-founding Greenswell, Metzgar’s prior work career was a combination of corporate America and giving back to the community. For 22 years he worked for Wm M. Mercer, the largest HR consulting firm in the U.S. and world, serving in various roles starting as an analyst and ending a wonderful experience as Managing Director, member of the U.S. Board of Directors, and member of both the U.S. Leadership Group and worldwide Planning and Operations Group and Worldwide Partner.
Metzgar was an adjunct Professor at the University of Richmond Jepson School of Leadership Studies in the early 2000s, as well as Cambridge University in the UK for a summer. In addition, he spent about a decade working as a Board and Executive Committee member on the rehab of the Carpenter Theatre & Thalhimers department store building on East Grace Street, as well as the Landmark Theatre (which was renovated in 2013-14 and renamed the Altria Theatre). He served as Chair of the Education Committee, establishing the Genworth Brightlights Education Center.
