Gordon Dixon, Virginia Transportation Construction Alliance: Virginia’s Infrastructure Needs - Are “Structurally Deficient” Bridges So Bad?

In March 2020, Gordon Dixon was selected as the next Executive Vice President of the Virginia Transportation Construction Alliance (VTCA).  Gordon provides strategic leadership for the organization by guiding the Board to identify, establish and execute short term objectives, long-range goals and position the organization for future success.

Dixon has over 25 years of government relations and association management experience.  He has worked with local, state, and national associations on advocacy campaigns and regulatory issues to become key influencers on public policy.

Prior to his term at VTCA, he was the CEO at the Associated General Contractors of Virginia, growing membership and revenue for the association and starting a focused campaign on workforce solutions.

In addition, Dixon previously was appointed to run a state agency (DPOR) with an annual budget of $21 million to develop and establish "right touch" regulation for 300,000 + individuals and businesses in 47+ professions and occupations.  Those professions include Contractors, Engineers, Real Estate Agents, Professional Wrestlers and Branch Pilots. While there he reduced expenditures by 13%, led a reorganization effort to improve workforce engagement, succession planning and established an ethical code of conduct.  He negotiated policy issues with the Governor’s Office, the Virginia Legislature and external stakeholder groups.  He advanced a process improvement plan, reduced error rates, and improved the customer service process.

He is a graduate of Mary Washington College, lives in the greater Richmond area with is wife of 20 years and two boys who are often found on a soccer pitch.
