For our March 14 program, Richard Madden has invited David White, who is a well-known developer of lots of fascinating buildings (many are historical landmarks around Richmond).
David earned his undergraduate degree in Architecture from Virginia Tech in 1970 and his Masters Degree in Architecture and Environmental Systems in 1971. He owns Historic Housing LLC, a real estate development and holding company, SWA Construction, Inc., SWA Architects Virginia, an architectural design firm, and Main Street Realty, Inc., a real estate management firm with some 2,300 units under management.
David is a pioneer in the use of historical tax credits. He has invested in housing communities in Virginia, Maryland, and Washington, D.C. Some of his signature projects are award winning and recognized by such entities as the Alliance for the Conservation of Old Richmond Neighborhoods, Historic Richmond Foundation, the Historic Orange Foundation, the District of Columbia, the National Park Service, the Department of Housing and Urban Development, and the Governor of Virginia.
David has some 40 years of experience in building design, construction and real estate development. His success is shared with organizations such as the Appomattox Regional Governor’s School, the Maggie L. Walker Regional Governor’s School, the Visual Arts Center of Richmond, The Performing Arts Center of Richmond, Richmond Hill and the CARITAS Center in Richmond.
