About the Club

The mission of the Kiwanis Club of Richmond is to improve the quality of life for children in the metropolitan area of Richmond by contributing the time and talents of the membership and the financial resources of the Club in an atmosphere of caring, service, fellowship and learning.

We do this as part of Kiwanis International, a global organization of volunteers dedicated to changing the world - one community and one child at a time. Our Club is actively involved in community service projects with a focus on children - reading and tutoring in the Richmond City Schools and partnering with William Byrd Community House, Church Hill Activities and Tutoring, Children’s Hospital, FeedMore, Boys and Girls Clubs of Metro Richmond, and First Things First Richmond to make a tangible impact on the lives of our city’s young people. We also provide support for Key Clubs and other service leadership programs in local schools, and we sponsor the Circle K International Clubs at both Virginia Commonwealth University and the University of Richmond.

We meet weekly on Mondays at noon at the Virginia Historical Society for fellowship with a delicious catered buffet lunch and some of the most interesting and varied speakers you'll find at any civic organization meeting. After each 20-minute presentation, our members benefit from a lively question and answer session with the speaker, who may be an author, politician, university president, chief executive officer, economist, government official, non-profit leader, etc.

The best way to learn about the Kiwanis Club of Richmond (besides perusing our website, of course!) is to attend a meeting. Walk-in visitors are always welcomed, but you may feel more comfortable attending if you contact our office so that a member from our club can greet you personally and make sure you feel at home. You can call and leave a message on our voicemail at 804-447-3769, or email our Executive Director Christy Jenkins at richmondkiwanis@comcast.net.
