Our Club manages a sizable 501(c)3 nonprofit foundation, the Richmond Kiwanis Foundation, which generates annual income to support many of our community activities. The initial seed funding for the Foundation resulted from the sale of Camp Kiwanis, a summer camp for underprivileged children. Today, the Foundation draws on a percentage of its investment income to fund college scholarships to Key Club members, as well as several service projects and small grants to our community partners.
The Club also sponsors several development efforts throughout the year, all of which are processed through the Foundation. These fundraisers include a spring campaign in conjunction with the Virginia Voice, our annual Kiwanis Cup Golf Tournament in September, and an annual appeal during the holiday season.
The Foundation is governed by a Board of Directors which it shares in common with the Kiwanis Club of Richmond. The Foundation does, however, have its own treasurer, and also appoints a Foundation Partnership Committee which meets once a year to review grant applications from our community partners.
