Serving the Children of the World

Becoming a Member

We often get inquiries about how to become a member of the Kiwanis Club of Richmond. We welcome your interest and hope you will consider joining us after you learn more.

First, we invite you to come to a meeting. We meet on Mondays at the Virginia Historical Society; the meeting starts at 12:30, but folks start getting there between 11:30 and 12 for lunch. Hot lunch catered by Joe's Inn is delicious, and is $10 for members, $13 for non-members. Prospective members are welcome to come for one complimentary lunch.

At a meeting, you can get an information packet that includes a membership application. There is a one-time application fee of $65 (this includes what we pay to Kiwanis International to register you, as well as an administrative fee to cover the production of a name badge). Dues are $105 per quarter, pro-rated depending on what month you join.

Attendance is not required at the Monday meetings, but meetings really are one of the best "perks" of our service club. It's where you can meet other members, network, and of course, hear some pretty fantastic speakers. Our program committee works hard to have high-caliber, interesting speakers every week, and we usually have about 100 folks at the meeting each week.

We also encourage involvement in our service projects and commitment to at least one of our many committees - some are focused on "club business" while others are focused on our mission of serving children in the Richmond area. We partner with several local non-profit groups as well as Richmond Public Schools, and we have both one-time and long-term projects that you can get involved with. There really is something for everyone.

Contact Christy Jenkins in the Kiwanis office at for more information or to schedule a visit to a meeting. We'd like to know you are coming so we can show you a Kiwanis welcome!
